How I Festival

I love Music Festivals!!!

So does my husband and some of our closest friends. So we go every summer to at least one.

Our eyes are on the BIG prize for next year .... Burning Man!

 Music + Camping = Happiness

What I found in summers past, is that the food at the festivals doesn't always equal happiness for my stomach. I would get bloated and not really feel like myself.

So this year I took a little time to prepare and made sure I could rock it the whole weekend.

Planning + Preparation = Success!

First, I entered into MyFitnessPal everything I planned on eating over the 4 days.

Spicy Turkey Burgers

Shredded BBQ Chicken Salad

Hard Boiled & Raw Eggs

Diced Onions, Peppers & Spinach

Moroccan Yams

Roasted Beets

Instant Oatmeal Packets

Apples & Peaches

Carrots & Cauliflower

Avocados

Birch Benders Pancake Mix

Dr. Axe Collagen Protein Powder

Laird Superfood Creamer & Coffee

Dark Chocolate

Cocomel Carmels

Then, I manipulated the meals to make sure I was eating enough. Adjusting the servings to ensure I would be satisfied throughout each day.

Finally, I mixed up & cooked the burgers and shredded chicken after 6 hours in the crockpot, cut the veggies, & purchased bags of salad and the yams & beets from a local health store.

Having a combination of pre-cooked and purchased foods made it manageable for me to stay on track with my health goals AND still fully enjoy the festival.

Here's a sample of what I ate at the festival:

Breakfast

Veggie Scramble - onions, peppers, spinach with 1 cup egg whites

Coffee with collagen protein powder & superfood creamer

1 peach

Lunch

Taylor Farms Salad kit (without little bag of goodies)

5 ounces Shredded BBQ Chicken

1/2 avocado

Snack

Apple

Dinner

1 1/2 Spicy Turkey Burger

Moroccan Yam Salad

1/4 Avocado

Planning ahead made it easy for me to have FUN.

Our camp neighbors were amazing, strong, beautiful women who teach pole acrobatics & dancing. They brought a pole with them and offered to teach me a few of their tricks. WOW! It is so difficult. I have immense respect for their strength AND flexibility. I posted a video of me attempting to twirl around on my Instagram stories. It is fun to try something new.

With my dietary restrictions ( no gluten, dairy, corn or soy ) it can be hard to eat from vendors at concerts. By bringing my own food I knew exactly what I was consuming. This eliminated the bloat and stomach pain that I have experienced in the past.

Honey Buckets + Michelle = Constipation

This will have to be another post, but I did get constipated - next year I plan on keeping with my regular workout routine while there (thankful for showers provided) so I can keep my system moving :)
